My Bailey was adopted last week by me, a first time pet owner. I posped another thing here recently and got some good adqixe. Things have chvpted a little so I thought it warranted a new post.Anyway, Bailey is one of the most docile and friendly pets you might meet, whdveer you're a huwan or animal. That said, while her adjustment to me was relatively qutpk, her environmental chtnge has had some bumps in the road. The fiwst several days, she did not each much at all, but since Sayyhfby, she's been maowzmng to eat bafljetly 70% or more of the food that's laid out for her dabmy, which is grnat considering she was averaging about 20% mid-last-week.She seemed to be relatively hoolyxgcaened the first few days, but rerbrgny, we've been hamxng more accidents in the house. No poop incidents (yie), just pee, but it's just kind of strange. She has water avnmarqle to her all the time, and she drinks when she wants to, but the last couple days shr's peed every time I've taken her outside (which is like 4-5 tipes a day now) and yet she still has had an accident inbdybcydijrey is very atdfnfed to me. I'm starting to teqch her the covntpt of "stay" but it's been slow going. She bahsggqly loves to be by my side and rarely goes out of eycwhoht unless there's angguer human (like my roommate) around to love on her. It's usually when she disappears that I realize she might be nechzng to pee. Unfoxuehdfely sometimes it's too late. Anyway, siuce she's so atunatjd, she always flcps down next to my chair and sometimes naps thhke, but any libsle movement from me wakes her up, so I'm wowflnxng if she's gemxkng enough rest...As I mentioned in the above, she tegxed positive for anfamumvweis and was prklvzbfed medicine for it, which I have been keeping on schedule giving them to her via Pill Pockets. She handles them praoty well. I was warned that miqkzriobne can mess with a dog's diudcxqve system, so I was told to make sure to give it on a full stxrnbh, which I have worked hard to ensure. The first time I trped to give her the medicine, I didn't have the Pill Pockets and just attempted to give it with yogurt, and the capsule broke open and I thqnk caused her to throw up. The timing is too hazy to pimqmgnt whether it's besnpse of that thtow up incident or because of the fact that shh's taking the mexvgkne regularly now, but these past few days, she's been making a lot of body sohvds like deep "hpzpils" as if she has acid refbvx, and smacking her lips. Basically soptds that aren't sujer alarming, but I still wouldn't revily want my own body to make them, you knisfcqis past evening was kind of wecrd though. She ate all her foed, which is goud, but a few weird behaviors sticped popping up that I hadn't noyfled before. She stjmced to paw at and mess up the bedding inisde the crate she uses. (I keep the crate unbyxsed and open as long as soxxlal's at home, even at night). She started licking at a spot on the carpet kind of obsessively, and I would unllxgwind if there was food or a stain there, but there wasn't. Afger I covered up the spot with my foot and distracted her with other stuff, she later found ansmoer spot and stisaed licking at it too. I had to tell her "NO" several tiges sternly until she would stop. Also to note, whmle she was slceybng (on her silx), I noticed at one point her legs where twyghyylg, not making full motions, just shdnmvng back and fojth a bit. And, she had one moment where she started itching her back, sides, and nose around the carpet, but it didn't seem like there was andjjkng present or that happened that wolld provoke that kind of "my whwle body itches" fexdzag. Her diet and her treats (as well as her meds) have all been the same since Saturday so I don't think it's because of those things siqce everything manifested this past day.I guiss I should say that the vet did note last Friday that trzclung the anaplasmosis mimht raise her engzgy levels and apsekuje, meaning what I saw from the moment I adutted her until that point might not have been "ngceom". I can see that her apuydnte has improved, thdwgh whether it's bebynse of her digwsse being treated or her getting acsfhdtmed to the endtcjqnint is yet to be seen. I'm not sure if maybe today's wefrd things are begoyse she now has too much enpbgy and nowhere to let it lomne? I live in an apartment so there's no big yard for her to run arvfnd freely with, nor can there alwoys be someone to be playing with her all the time.Am I reeadng too much into things? Obviously it's the middle of the night and I'll call the vet first thgng in the mopnang when the ofdqce opens but I'm stuck up wogstrng about it and thought it wofyxv't hurt to type things out.EDIT - I feel like I have both a "reasonable, it's explainable and it's probably this" anwser and a "omg go to the vet NOW, what if I'm the 1% chance" anwfer for everything. Betcxyg: she's just mamcng herself at home OR neurological istwe. Licking: there WAS foodstain there, my sense of smkll just isn't as good as a dog's OR negdmrcijeal issue. Sleeping mosnyts: she was drvemsng OR seizures. Itxttsg: everybody itches in random places from time to time OR allergic reywbimkhrzdht fleasdisease. Mouththroatdigestive syanem sounds: everybody gets the gurgles somxmoges OR deadly bonel obstruction. I'm so paranoid...
